Examination- At a Glance

Ministry of Home Affairs has conducted the Assistant Central Intelligence Officer Grade B Examination on 15th September 2013 on various centers across the India. The examination countdown has been started. So here we are writing the article which focuses on the pattern of the exam.

The examination consists of two papers:-
·        Paper I (Objective type)
·        Paper II (Descriptive Type only in English)

  • Paper I

This paper consists of
1)    General Awareness
2)    Quantitative Aptitude
3)    Verbal and Non verbal Reasoning
4)     Comprehension
The number of questions and the marking to these questions varies every year.

  • Paper II

This paper has been designed so as to check the writing skill of the candidate. The writing skill can be checked through Essay writing, letter writing, Précis writing, Paragraph writing etc. So it’s not compulsory that only essay can be asked. So it is recommended that the candidate should be ready to write any one of the above.

Note: - Both the papers have to be completed in 1:40 minutes. So now its the skill of the candidate to cover the papers in given time.

General awareness- This section consists of questions from General Geography, Indian and World geography, History- India and World, Indian polity and Constitution, Indian Economy, General Science (Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany) and current affairs (Current affairs will be asked from Jan 2012 up till date. The current affairs include sports section with higher priority).

Quantitative Aptitude:-
This section consists especially of word problems from the sections like, Speed Distance Time, Average, Ratio proportion, Age, LCM HCF, Statistics and data interpretations and metal ability questions.

Reasoning:-
The section consists of the questions from sitting arrangement, Blood relations, and principle of series, coding and decoding, syllogism. A wide arena which checks the logical power of the candidate is this section.

Comprehension- It consists of the questions based on the Basic English grammar. For this please refer Wren and Martin book.

Expected Essays this year:-
1)    Value of Indian Rupee and Indian Economy
2)    Food Security Bill and Procurement.
3)    Women Depredation (Women assaults )
4)    Cricket- India and World
5)    Corruption in sports
6)    Environmental issues.

As explained above, the pattern of the paper is not rigid. It cannot be predicted correctly about the questions that will be asked in the paper and their weightage. So it is highly recommended to revise all the things at once.
